jellied cranberry sauce, strained fruit juices.
All other fruits, especially pruned,
prune juice, dates, figs, blueberries,
blackberries, boysenberries, kumquats,
pineapple, rhubarb, avocado, grapes,
raisins, apples, peaches, pears, fresh
grapefruit, and orange sections.
Meat, Fish,
Poultry:
Tender beef, chicken, fish, lamb, liver, pork,
turkey, veal, cottage cheese, cheese,
shellfish.

Tough fibrous meats with gristle; all
highly seasoned meats.
Potato or
Substitute:
White potato (cooked any way) grits,
macaroni, noodles, polished rice, spaghetti,
stained sweet potato.

Skin of potato, fibrous sweet potato,
unpolished rice.
Soup: Broth, bouillon soups made from allowed
foods, strained cram soups (reduced milk
consumed).

Highly seasoned soups, or soups made
from foods not allowed.

Sweets:

Sugar, jelly, honey, syrups, plain hard candy
gumdrops, jellybeans, and marshmallows.


Candies made with coconuts, or foods
not allowed, jams and other marmalades.

Vegetable:

Strained vegetable juice, cooked tender
asparagus tips, beets, wax or green beans
carrots, eggplant, pumpkin, spinach, tomato,
and winter squash: strained corn, lima
beans, and peas.

All other whole vegetables raw or cooked,
dried broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage,
cauliflower, legumes, parsnips, rutabagas,
trunips, zucchini.

Miscellaneous:

Catsup, cream sauce, lemon.

Chili sauce coconut.

Substitute
Roasted, baked, or broiled beef,
chicken, turney, bacon, ham,
lamb, veal, or fish. Cottage, cream,
and mild American cheese.
Highly-seasoned or high-salted meats
and fish. Fatty meats, luncheon meats
and frankfurters. (Crisp bacon is allowed
in moderate amounts.) Fried meats or
shellfish with tough connective tissue.
Highly flavored cheeses.

Vegetables

Canned or cooked pureed vegetables
such as asparagus, beets, carrots,
peas, pumpkin, squash, spinach and
young string beans. Cooked potato
without skin. Mild flavored vegetable
juices.


All raw vegetables. Fried potato, potato
chips, and brown rice.
Fruits Cooked or canned apples, apricots,
cherries, peaches, and pears. Fruit
juices. Ripe banana or avocado
without skins or seeds.

All fresh fruit.



Soup Bouillon, broth, strained cream soups
made from the foods allowed.

Any others.
Fats Butter, margarine, and oils.

High spiced salad dressings.

Breads & Cereals

Refined bread, toast, rools, and
crackers. Cooked cereal such as
Cream of Wheat. Cornmeal,
cornflakes, puffed rice, and puffed
wheat.

Any with whole grain or graham flour,
bran, seeds or nuts; hot breads and
quick breads. Whole grain or bran cereals.
Whole grain rice, dried legumes, popcorn.

Desserts Gelatin desserts, tapioca, angel food
or sponge cake, plain custard, ice
cream without fruit or nuts, cookies
and pudding.


Any made with coconut, nuts or fruits.
Sweets Sugar, honey, jelly, syrup, hard
candy, and milk chocolate.
Jam, marmalade, candy with coconut, nuts
or whole fruits.
Beverages Milk as directed by your physician
or dietitian. Coffee, tea and
carbonated beverages.


Alcohol.

Miscellaneous

Salt, plain gravy, and cream-style
peanut butter.

Garlic, seed spices, pickles, olives, nuts,
pepper, chili powder, popcorn, rich gravies,
